Although we don't agree politically, let me say that I totally support JD's action.
He just beat me to it.

I think all of that is true, and yet, he still does not deserve to have a contract buyout for over a million dollars!
You are oh, so right.
Here we are in the midst of a recession that is rapidly becoming a depression. Unemployment is steadily increasing. Homes going into foreclosure. Detroit’s auto industry going down the drain. And two unending wars. Less than 300 days of drinking water left for the County. A holiday season without peace on earth, and without much goodwill toward anyone.
So what do we do ? We are going to throw away a million plus by severing a man that isn’t given the opportunity afforded criminal defendants of being considered innocent until proven guilty. On top of that
we throw away another million plus on an audit that most likely will not disclose any material wrongdoing.
Just think of what good that money could do for the unemployed, the homeless, the hungry, the medically uninsured citizens of Anderson County.
This whole situation is crazy. . . Just to satisfy some bent egos.
Happy holidays y’all.

JD has fully explained how we five work, for the umpteenth time.
However I do want to add my thoughts:
Once again you have tried to change the subject. It is not about politics. It is not about respect.
It is about what all four moderators feel were your inappropriate comments.
I could care less whether you respect me or not. During my many years on this earth I have earned respect from family, friends, neighbors and work associates.
Not having yours is like missing a grain of sand on the beach. I’ll never notice.

Pappy, what I said to ibv was in jest as anyone with common sense could see. You left-wingers are so far out of touch with reality that you cannot understand a simple statement. Just because your man is going to the new black house does not mean that you rule over conservatives. I keep the peace and don't need you to remind me. I hope I have not hurt your administrator feelings and I have not threatened you either.
-prevail
prevail,
This has absolutely nothing to do with politics !
When anyone tells an administrator to " be aware ", I consider that a threat. You may think you are funny, but I don't.
It might pay to read my signature quote.
Re: Is Rick Driver Morning show on WAIM-AM 1230 a comedy show????
November 14, 2008 by pappy
ibvirginia, leave yankeefan alone or I will personally tell you not to do that. This is my unofficial warning..be aware!
-prevail
First of all, ibvirginia is an administrator, so if she gives an official warning it needs to be taken seriously.
Second, I am warning you officially not to threaten her or anyone.

Pappy: Only a Liberal Democrat would make fun of the uneducated!
Shame on you.-republikin
Why is it so difficult for a conservative Republican to recognize Hank's put-ons ?
On second thought, I guess they have little to laugh at.
Re: POORLY VETTED ??

Pappy/Petunia
Isn't it all in the interpretation? You see it your way, others see it theirs. Depends if you are buying or selling ? Obama was selling and voters were buying. Palin was selling and voters were mislead by MSMBC, CBS, CNN, ABC, NYT, and lots of large daily newspaper accross the USA.
Obama won despite a washed up sour puss as a running mate.
-republikin
republikin,
Or, perhaps McCain was selling and voters weren’t buying an old worn-out product..
As for what Palin was selling, it was inferior goods that even Fox reported some Republicans weren’t buying.
As you wrote, it is all in the interpretation.

Citizen1, I'm afraid some of our more closed-minded liberal members are going to be highly offended by that picture. If you look really closely - no, no, lower - you'll see the model has a CROSS in her bellybutton. [image]Excuse me now. You've reminded me that I need to go to BiLo to pick up a couple of honeydew melons before the price goes back up tomorrow.
-jdtippett
jd,
The term 'closed-minded liberal' is an oxymoron.

We all make mistakes and I accept your genorous comment.
As former cop can attest, I have made some bad ones of my own.

As for toothpicks, I'll keep on buying my own, but thanks jd and former cop for your support. . . I think.

Re: Oil Wars
November 11, 2008 by pappy
Can't we ban Pappy for his consistent, unfounded slander against our country and leaders?
He makes these allegations while riding his butt around in a gas powered vehicle. If you don't like the oil companies, walk!
-republikin
Huh ?
What slaner ? What allegations ?
Re: Oil Wars
November 11, 2008 by pappy
It has been alleged that both Kuwait (Desert Storm) and the war in Iraq have been wars waged for oil gains by America. So for all of you that believe that, show the rest of us exactly how the US has gained from these wars? Have we controlled OPEC and their production or the rise and fall of the price of crude?
As a start to discovering the truth, read and research profits for these companies and tell us all how the US has gotten better deals than other countries and trace the profits back to the wars. No theory please just all the cold hard facts that can be verified.
Does anyone know if the US ever receive full compensation for the cost of liberating Kuwait?
[url]-1-opinion
Let’s get this topic back on track.
The fact that always amazed me is that I have read many times that over 90% of our imported oil comes from our North American allies.
Assuming that is true, it seems ludicrous that we would purposely sacrifice American lives for less than 10% of our oil imports.
Re: Has Joey Preston resigned?
November 10, 2008 by pappy
OKAY I see this as a flame and appologize - clothes stay on use feathers and honey?
Not really
Wiki-again
Both tar, which was used in and around 1774, and feathers from edible fowl sources (such as chickens) were plentiful. In a typical tar-and-feathers attack, the subject of a crowd's anger would be stripped to the waist. Hot tar was either poured or painted onto the person while he or she was immobilized. Then the victim either had feathers thrown on him or was rolled around on a pile of feathers so that they stuck to the tar. Often the victim was then paraded around town on a cart or a rail. The aim was to hurt and humiliate a person enough to leave town and not cause any more mischief.
It does sound nasty when you read about it from the historic perspective so I'll appolgize and just agree with the last 5 words as a goal "not cause any more mischief". Pappy, you missed the point. Unless there is a reson to pay Preston off, it should not be done. The disagreement does not exist until the new Council is seated. The the question really is, how to hold out current public servants to a higher standard than they have been in the past? The "buy him out" rewards him for something that has yet to happen.-1-opinion
Okay if used as a simile but not as a' fine old Southern tradition'.
Re: Has Joey Preston resigned?
November 10, 2008 by pappy
You insult your neighbors implying that tar and feathering is a ' fine old Southern tradition'. It was never fine !
It went out with the Ku Klux Klan and hangings.

By the way, since you all know me, why are you ashamed to tell me who you are ?
Re: Redemption is Complete
November 9, 2008 by pappy
This article from the Shelbyville Times does a good job of what the minority 55 million voters fear and still have questions that are not yet answered pertaining B. Hussein Obama. Give it a read.
-prevail
In the interest of full disclosure, it should be pointed out that this was not a newspaper article, but rather a blog by a Carl McClanahan who is a real estate agent working for Bob Parks Realty.
Just like you, he doesn't represent the fears of 55 million voters !
It seems to me that you should be more accurate in crediting your source.

No Pappy, I don`t take anyone seriously that attends a Farmer College before attending a real Medical University, But I`ll be happy to display to you the same things that the doctor based his medical opinion on. Then you will be able to make a more informed opinion. And you don`t look anything like Kevin Bryant, He doesn`t have a hearing aid, or an Earring, and his wife didn`t work at the precinct at Centerville.-honkeydonkey
You did recognize me, but not voting at the precinct this time.
I sincerely wish the next time you spot me that you introduce yourself. I am the last person anyone should hid from. I would enjoy talking with you.
Re: Redemption is Complete
November 9, 2008 by pappy
Intestional Fortitude, and big gonads, was the doctor`s verdict. And by the way you didn`t look so good the other day when I saw you at Centerville, Precent B, when you were voting, is that the reason for your absence.
-honkeydonkey
I'm glad you don't take the doctor's diagnosis seriously. . .
That wasn't me. Maybe that was Kevin Bryant. I voted absentee ballot this year,
Re: Redemption is Complete

Humorous sarcasm? You sure fooled me.
I was going to ask what the docs diagnosed you all with.

Re: Political Funnies & Satire
November 8, 2008 by pappy
I returned to the blog after being away and note that you seem to be angry at everyone. So add me to the list.
I take umbrage at your ridiculous claim that service people are sacrificed for someone to make money. Do you care to back up that claim with facts ?
I certainly can't believe that over a million Americans were killed or wounded in WWII just so someone could make money. Have you forgotten that Japan attacked us first at Pearl Harbor ? Have you forgotten that Hitler's thugs were out to exterminate the entire Jewish population ?
Re: Redemption is Complete

Like I ever trusted what graham said about anything. I didn't vote for him and I don't believe anything he says.
-noeline
Nor am I a fan of Lindsey.
His statement just illustrates the disunity within the Republican party.
Re: Redemption is Complete
November 7, 2008 by pappy
Well I guess we have to give him a chance because he was elected by the people. However he just earned strike one, by naming Rahm Emanuel, he is one of the most devisive people in congress.
-noeline
However, Senator Graham from the great state of South Carolina said this about Emanuel;
"This is a wise choice by President-elect Obama. I worked closely with him during the presidential debate negotiations which were completed in record time. When we hit a rough spot, he always looked for a path forward. I consider Rahm to be a friend and colleague. He's tough but fair. Honest, direct, and candid. These qualities will serve President-elect Obama well".
Re: Sarah Palin-isms
November 6, 2008 by pappy
Citizen so now you are going to take the word of those lying no good republicaans because they are trashing Palin, give it up. By the way if those people that are trashing Palin had their way the candidate would have been Joe L. and McCain would have lost by 20 plus percentage points, You guys are amazing
-noeline
Noeline,
You aint seen nothing yet.
Wait till the Palin, the Giuliani , the Romney, the Gingrich and the Huckabee factions of the party start fighting for control of the GOP.
One of the reasons the Republican party lost was a lack of unity. The Democrats used to have an exclusive on intra-party battles. This year they got smart and decided that winning was more important than ideology.
