Your decision is what it is. For whatever it may be worth, I agree with your actions.

But, I must admit when I saw "Republikin" on the list a "wahoo" slipped out and an adult beverage was indulged in with gusto! Let us just say I agree with that action more than the others. Smile

However I think she will always be here in one incarnation or another.

. After being largely responsible (with Bob Waldrip's help) of the $1.14 Million buyout, perhaps she'll get the point.

-republikin

republikin almost everyone puts a certain "spin" on their posts. But for you to blame the unwarrented Preston buyout on Bob Waldrep and Cindy Wilson boggles the mind. I suppose the Gang of 5 were just innocent bystanders?

"Oh ye of little faith"......

Give the new Council a chance. Yesterday two of the new members toured some county offices wjith Mr. Cunningham and met some employees. It was a good start!

Re: SPAM ATTACK?

December 26, 2008 by nomadron

I refuse to accept a lot of things from a lot of people, thats one of the reasons my boss likes me and I still have a job right now unlike a lot of people. Now, if I was seeking negative attention I'd simply strip naked and run down main street or verbally smash you into the ground. Now since you're all about asking questions, I have one for you why do you so gleefully bend over for other people?

-zn706

zn I don't "gleefully bend over" for anyone. But I understand there are rules in this world. I accept my bosses rules, if I want to work for him. I accept religious rules if I expect to get to heaven. I accept highway rules if I expect to keep my driver's license. There are so many things in life where you must accept (obey) the rules in order to have the benefit. So for you to post here a make a point of flaunting your disrespect of the forum rules shows you don't really want to post here. You want to cause an uproar!

I think you should change your signature line and remove the profanity and not have an obscene gesture as an avatar. I don't see how you have been allowed to continue this long. However I am not a moderator and I am just posting my opinion a a member of the forum.

SPAM ATTACK?

I guess someone has decided that spamming this forum with mutiple posts of the same photo is the mature thing to do.

Re: 15 points to start reforming Anderson County government

Maybe we need to have a requirement that County Councilman should at least have a college degree with a masters degree preferred.

-andersonresident

That is elitest B.S. on so many levels!

One of those long time members leaving the current council as well as one current members that is staying are both former teachers.

Re: The Famer's Market Holiday Market

December 14, 2008 by nomadron

I guess you all think I am crazy. But I tell you when I got there at 7pm or a little later there was no gluhwein or bratwurst. So either I wandered around in a fog and missed it or the brats were gone. Did anyone get any gluhwein? I don't want to discourage the event from returning. I want it to be a great event. Perhaps I expected too much.

Something I forgot to mention in my earlier post might be an idea to promote continued attendance. In Germany the Gluhwein is served in little ceramic cups. The cups are usually made with a design of the Christkindlmarkt location and the year. When you get your Gluhwein you pay a deposit on your cup and get it back when you return it. However, a lot of folks forfiet their deposit and keep the cup as a momento of that place and year. Not that I did a lot of drinking (lol), but I am proud of my collection from all over the former West Germany and Austria. Perhaps if the Gluwein vendors could have some type of distinctive (but inexpensive) cup available with a design and date it may spark a continued interest in attending year after year.

Although I was very disapointed, I hope the event returns. I just hope it improves.

Re: The Famer's Market Holiday Market

December 14, 2008 by nomadron

OK guys! What is the deal? The Christkindlmarkt was advertised for 2 until 10 with Gluhwein and bratwurst (among other things) like a real German Christmas Market.

Some of my fondest memories are of many Christmas seasons in Germany. I was able to enjoy the Christkindlmarkts in many different towns and cities and sample some great bratwurst and brotchen and washing it down with delicious hot gluhwein. My favorite bratwurst were from Stuttgart and my favorite gluhwein was the Nurenburg variation. Overall year in and year out I enjoyed the Nurenburg Christkindlmarkt best of all. I still celebrate the Nurenburg visits yet today as my Christmas tree is topped with a Nurenburg Angel and many ornaments are from that markt. I did not expect this first attempt at a Christkindlemarkt to match the real thing . But based on the advance billing I was looking foreward to a good time.

I got there at 7PM and it was such a bummer! Ther was no Gluhwein. There was no bratwurst. With the exception of the food stands the wares for sale could have been purchased year-round at the Berry House. It seemed some of the vendors had already departed. I sincerely hope it was better earlier in the day. But at 7PM it was a waste of time!

Re: Who will be the new Ringmaster/Chairman of The Anderson County Council/Circus in January???????

December 7, 2008 by nomadron

I think for the first year it will be Bob Waldrep wth Tom Allen as vice. I think the second year it will be Tom Allen with Cindy Wilson as vice.

Re: Bus Trip

December 5, 2008 by nomadron

JD that was quite an assessment of the situation. I think you are 100% correct. I think Mr. Cunningham could do a great job. But the way this has come about has made his job much more difficult.

Re: Cunningham

December 4, 2008 by nomadron

I think Mr Cunningham will prove to be an able and fair Administrator. I think he deserves a chance. The fact he was loyal to his boss at the time should not be held against him.

Ditto!

Re: Anderson County Council Meeting (December 02)

December 2, 2008 by nomadron

Wyatt I am not upset that two of the three people that you mentioned in your post did not get re-elected. I am not upset that Mr. Cunningham is now the Administer. Mr. Preston is leaving. You apparently are having a hard time getting over it. I think it is disingenuous of you to rail against the person who defeated Mr. Thompson (your candidate) because he will not meet with you. He is not even sworn in to office yet.

The subject of your post was people not meeting with you. In my opinion one of the reasons people may not be meeting you are some of your posts on public forums with language better suited for other places. You think it is fun and funny when you do it. But now it may be holding you back.

Re: Anderson County Council Meeting (December 02)

December 2, 2008 by nomadron

There is enough blame to be shared by all sides concerning the hostile attitude which dominated the past council meetings. Ms. Cindy Wilson and Mr. Bob Waldrep asked many great questions, but they used less than diplomatic ways of communicating them. On the other hand, the other council members and the administration were less than willing to provide sufficient answers.

-art-kaldas

Who are you and what have you done with the real Art? This is not the answer an "Art" of a year ago would have given! SmileSmile

Re: Anderson County Council Meeting (December 02)

December 2, 2008 by nomadron

Wyatt as I remember it, you were against the council person for District 5 in the primary. I think there are several archived posts where you express your support for Michael Thompson. Is that not so?

Also as someone else pointed out, perhaps they have read some of the "colorfully worded" posts by you and others in your "movers and shakers" circle, and decided it is an association that may have too much baggage.

Re: Anderson County Council Meeting (December 02)

SSHM no one has said anything about a constitutionally required elected official or their staff. It is a given that neither County Council or the Administrator can interfere with an elected official. However I will again state, for the overwhelming number of county departments and vast majority of county employees not directly under one of the constitutionally required elected offices (those listed on the upper right of the county organizational chart)...(this applies to all of those listed below the Administrator on the organizational chart)...

Council can change mission or policy anytime it chooses to do so in relation to county government operations in accordance with state law. Even departments required by state law can have the size (number of personnel) and structure changed as long as it still has the ability to provide the end function the state requires. Eliminatimng a department (not required by state law) can be done at any time.

If you have a cite that states otherwise please give it.

As for re-alignment and the changing of the mission, those activities would fall to the County Administrator, not Council.

....

Defunding and eliminating departments can only happen during the budget debates, as the County is almost halfway through the 08-09 budget year.

Re: Anderson County Council Meeting (December 02)

PN I believe the council has the right to eliminate departments or change a department's mission thereby changing the number of employees needed. As the old adage goes, "Where there is a will, there is a way."

PN as private citizens "they" can talk all they want to talk. They can even meet as a group. Quorum laws do not apply because they have not been sworn in yet. This is not the case with the sworn sitting council members. (Or it is not legally the case.)

But I do not believe the incoming council either vaguely or clearly threatened county employees. It seems some are trying to muddy the waters before anyone can drink.

Prevail what makes you think that Cindy hasn't had her questions anwered. Every time she asks a question she gets the documents, even the SC SUPREME COURT said so, who are you to say they are wrong.

-dixiecrat

In a deposistion, didn't Mr. Preston say he delayed giving Ms. Wilson the information she requested until he could review it first on his timetable. Didn't he also admit this was not the case with other council members? Having your questions answered in a timely manner is a lot different in just having your questions answered. Or having your question answered, but have it buried in a mountain of worthless information.
