I was trying to post this:

The Anderson Independent will host a 3rd debate with my opponent and myself on Tuesday at 8am. The event will be at the Anderson University Library and will also be aired on WRIX fm 103.1. The hosts will be Ms. Bonnie Williams of the AI, and Mr. George Ducworth of WRIX. A recent newspaper typo has caused some confusion, but here is the correct timing.
Also, remember Tuesday afternoon at 5:30pm(10.14) is our free BBQ with Sen. Jim DeMint and on Wednesday at 1pm (10.15) Gov. Sanford will be in town for a press conference on the economy. The press conference will be at American Concrete on Bleckley Road in Anderson. ttfn!

That debate revolves around this question. Party primaries are:
1-General Elections in June for whoever or
2-the nomination process for the political party
Republican activists have been split on this isssue, yet at the last meeting of the Anderson County Republican Party, there was a resolution that passed unanimously from voting members of the executive committee calling for closed primaries.

I'd like to hear from any Democrat activist. What do ya'll think?

Also, Michael Thompson voted to over ride the veto.

I appreciated the invitation, but if we weren't supposed to be there, why did ya'll invite us?

I've worked with Medicaid on a similar system that flags unusual quantities, high dosages, etc. but I'm not sure if it is extensive as this FAMS. Would be a great thing to look into. Emma Forkner, the new director of DHHS, is doing an outstanding job "thinking outside the box" to look for ways to save funds, yet keep a high quality of care.

OK, Here's what I got from DHEC: Our office awarded funding to Anderson County during fiscal year 2006-2007 for equipment to be placed at the Powdersville site for the collection of used motor oil. Funding included $4450 for an oil tank, $850 for a carport cover to be placed over the tank, and $500 for a concrete pad. The project was delayed and the pad did not get installed at that time, but they were able to purchase the oil collection tank and carport cover. The tank would be used to collect used motor oil from do-it-yourself oil changers and the cover would be placed over the tank.

I'm not sure if the pad they're refering to is in place now. I got this info after we were there this morning and didn't notice. Does anyone know?

yes, got to the ribbon cutting. The money for this project from the state was through DHEC, if I recall correctly.

SSHM has insinuated that pen-name “willieh” is Susan Aiken. I don’t know who SSHM or willieh are, but I do know that Ms. Aiken does not participate on this blog.

As a child, I was neighbors with Jimmy & Susan Aiken. Very fine people. Well, Several years ago, Jimmy was found dead in their driveway. He was at home alone. He was working in the yard and got a bee sting and couldn’t get to his bee sting kit. Jimmy was allergic to bees.

Fastforward to last week in 2008. SSHM made the remark above :

“Outside of bee stings, you are petrified of the cross-over voters AND the moderates in the party. When they arrive and cast their votes, the ultra-nut-job right-wingers are sunk - and you know it.

You don't have the votes now. You don't have the traction needed. You don't have the financial backing. You don't have the time to execute.

You have failed.

Now put on your big girl pants and get over it.”

SSHM, don’t you have more widows to harass?

To all cockleburians, SSHM is bought and paid for and will even harass widows (those who lost their husbands by tragic event) to get what he/she wants. Trash, Piece of trash. The plot thickens, your pocket weakens!

we could pass a bill calling for rain, but we can't over ride a veto by God. so I guess its through prayer and fasting, which by the way I need both.

Damn, I bumped myself off the top ten when I bumped the Blog Lunch.

I did want to give the Senator's surrogate, Lee, an opportunity to reply.

Appears the good Senator is too busy.

i like Crist from Florida for McCain, and Obama would be crazy not to ask Hillary. John Edwards is not a factor.

Wille H, another stupid post. Don’t you think McCain’s VP needs to be a man committed to his family? If so, Crist ain’t it. Crist is a playboy

The Great (not "one of the greatest") Communicator sure wasn't a guy who believed in more spending and more government. Apparently he didn't communicate very effectively with you as you cannot recall his admonition that "Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem." Please remove yourself from "us."

I keep telling you who I am, but perhaps you're too busy reading between the lines. I AM A CONSERVATIVE.

- major taylor

I’m assuming ya’ll are referring to the Gipper that said these wonderful historic tidbits:

"A friend of mine was asked to a costume ball a short time ago. He Slapped some egg on his face and went as a liberal economist."

"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."

“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”
"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

So which county chairman followed this imaginary “rule”? Does this "rule" apply to intraparty officer elections also? Do the Republican Women have such “ethics”?

Re: Unethical Adkins

May 25, 2008 by kevin-bryant

there wasn't a problem when you had a 4x8 for a candidate in your yard when you were chairman

Re: Unethical Adkins

May 25, 2008 by kevin-bryant

Time for a history lesson.

It's 1992 - Former Republican Party Chairman Cathy Corcorin is in charge. Her actions, specifically, recruiting Bill Dees to run against Gene Taylor is what prompted the Republican Party to take action - action in 1993. Rules were established in 1993 prohibiting the county chairman and the state executive chairman from the local party from participating in campaign activities until AFTER the primary.

Re: Unethical Adkins

May 24, 2008 by kevin-bryant

SSHM, Are you sure the rule you cite exists? I served as party chairman myself from ’97-’01 and was very careful to be fair to all candidates, especially local candidates. However, I supported Jon Ozmint for attorney General on my way out in 2001. There wasn’t a problem that I know of.

- kevin bryant

These sorts of endorsements don't do anything except anger one camp and make another camp very happy.

They seldom move anybody from the fence to one camp or from one camp to another.

Adkins has a right to get involved. He's doing better than all the couch potatoes out there. Let the chips fall where they may on election day.

Andrew, are you backing me up twice in a week?

Re: Bryant - Wrong, Redux

Now, you're trying to attack Sen. Bryant with minutia. Voters can't understand any of this garbage. This is political insider stuff. Normal people don't understand any of this.

- ahammett

Thanks for the backup Andrew, but I would not call this an “attack” by SSHM. The post is asking about a legitimate issue. Voting records are public and constituents deserve an explanation.

Re: Bryant - Wrong, Redux

May 17, 2008 by kevin-bryant

Interesting that you should bring up the pay-day legislation. Thursday in the Senate, there were attempts to amend a House bill to re-address the issue. So far, the amendments have been ruled “non-germane”, but a new ruling is pending for Tuesday.

SSHM, you are saying government should oversee the personal transactions of taxpayers, but taxpayers should have no oversight of the transactions of their government.

This is backwards. The taxpayer should not have to answer to the government while spending the taxpayers’ money.
The government should have to answer to the taxpayer while spending the taxpayers’ money.

You can find my reasons for voting against the pay day lending regulations on my site. here. My vote was actually against the industry’s wishes. They asked for an “aye” in the final Senate bill.

Whether you agree with my record, it is an open book, more so than any other elected official in South Carolina. Thank you for your interest.
