Zn, your hatefulness and crude use of language only serve to undermine your beliefs (some of which I actually agree with, sort of.) It is NOT political correctness to expect a guest, as you and I and everybody else happen to be on this forum, to be civil and show some manners.
Besides, Nature-boy is right. Most of us use screen names, not real names, to post our opinions. But we don't hide behind those screen names to spout profanity and hate, and we don't go around wishing our opponents would die in plane crashes or burning cars. At least "Nostradumbass" - while he doesn't tell us exactly WHO he is with his screen name - at least admits WHAT he is.
In other words, you little jerk, if I want to tell you to go to hell, I'll hunt you down and do it to your face, using my real name. Some of us aren't easily intimidated by the likes of you, so feel free to hunt me down and say whatever your want to say.
Fortunately for both of us, your posts usually aren't worth wasting time to respond to, although I have tried in the past to humor you.
I'm very happy you don't claim either the Republican or Democrat parties, because I doubt either of those parties would welcome your kind of politics anyway. We have Democrats and Republicans on this board - and some from both sides (like Wyatt, SSHM, Prevail, Dunebuggy, Republikin) irritate me constantly from a PHILOSOPHICAL standpoint), but we don't hate each other, even though at times it may seem that way.
It does pain me that most of your tirades, like Mr. Hankey's, seem to come from the far right of the political spectrum, though. Louis Farakhan and Al Sharpton have a tendency to embarass those left sometimes and outrage those on both sides. You and David Duke have a tendency to embarass those of us on the right while outraging those on both sides.
And you are NOT a moderate. You are an "independent" only through having earned that label because no organized, civil, decent political party will have you. Sadly, you would be called a "conservative" - "reactionary" actually - who 40 or 50 years ago would have fit right in with the KKK in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina, hiding your face under a hood to practice intimidation of those with whom you disagree just as today you hide behind a screen name to do the same thing. (And I say that, unlike many on this board, as someone who has actually had dealings with the KKK as one of their TARGETS.)
Note that I didn't post for about three days here after you and Mr. Hankey started your asinine, juvenile posting spree. I really never know how to respond to you idiots. But in the middle of my self-imposed sabbatical, Nick posted his request that we give a "thumbs down" to vile posts. I agree wholeheartedly with him, but unlike you, I understand he isn't requesting that we try to censor OPINIONS. He's asking us to give a "thumbs down" to UNVARNISHED HATRED.
The Cocklebur should be a comfortable community forum for civil discourse about issues of the day. That certainly doesn't mean we have to wear boxing gloves to throw punches if we feel the need to do a little bare-knuckle political sparring, but pulling a knife or gun in this community is probably a bit over the line. If you want a community of punks and thugs who agree with you all the time and is just as filled with hatred as you are, this isn't it.
Knock yourself out with your anti-social attitudes, bud. You only damage your own credibility, not anybody else's from either side of the political spectrum. And, for what it's worth, I don't have a thin skin. Nothing you can say offends (or frightens) me personally, but in the context of this public forum, much of what you say is highly offensive to many.
It does pain me that most of your tirades seem to come from the far, far lunatic right of the political spectrum, though. I'm a conservative Republican, but I wouldn't want a vote from the likes of you even if it meant losing an election.
Louis Farakhan, Jeremiah Wright and Al Sharpton sometimes give the Democrats a bad name. You and people like David Duke and that nutcase minister from Kansas who thinks our soldiers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan because we allow homosexuality in the United States give Republicans a bad name. Both parties have people like you, but many of us really do wish they'd join your "outcast independent" movement and leave the rest of us alone.
At least that way, we could be sure your brand of non-Islamic Sharia law will never be validated in this country through the election process. (There's a reason, by the way, those who espouse views like yours within a PARTY affiliation are called the "Taliban" wing of the Republican Party.)
Having said that, I think I'll wander off here for a few days and see what's going on in the real world. Enjoy my absence. I'll be back ... maybe.
