Than there's that school of thought although I wouldn't have worded it that way.
There's also the maybe he felt any of the republican candidates were good choices but he was worried about who might win the democrat nomination and voted for who he thought was the lesser of two evils school of thought.
There are many plausable reasons why he might have done it Lee. And surely you know that, but in light of your recent move to the MCW camp and her close alignment with Waldrep I understand why you wouldn't entertain them here.
I don't think anyone would consider you a tax and spend liberal but you've voted in a democratic primary or two yourself haven't you? This must be an example of do as I say not as I do.

It is not irrelevant to vote in the democratic presidential primary.

It is not irrelevant to vote in the democratic presidential primary. For one thing, when you do, you declare yourself a democrat. You will start getting democratic mailings etc. The democrats claim you as one of theirs, just like the republicans would.
Desperation? I doubt it. Good strategy, I think so.
Let's not confuse the issue here. All of the mail pieces I got from MacKay says he "is" a lifelong republican. Then I get a piece in the mail stating that he voted in the democratic presidential primary. Obama won the election, it can be assumed that he voted for one of the two front runners, either Obama or Hillary.
Folks, this is not a city council (non-partisan) race. This is the republican primary! If Mr. MacKay is a democrat then he should have ran as a democrat. If he voted in a primary for democrats a few weeks before declaring himself a republican then I have very little confidence in his word. I
If Mr. Mackay lied about his party affiliation, what else will he lie to us about.
I want proof! If MacKay deny's it, then prove it. If Waldrep says he did it, then prove it. Until then, all this is just speculation.

You will really cross the line if you compare MacKay to Ronald Reagan.

I believe it might have been part of the Rush Limbaugh Operation Chaos plan. For Republicans who wanted to send the best chance to cause problems for the democrats long-term, which would help the Republicans in the long run, it made sense. However, the SC primary was early on. When did Operation Chaos begin? If it was after the primary here, that is not a viable option.

Yankee and Lee, you guys are full of crap. Yankee if you thought Bob to be such a man of integrity, you would have voted for Bob last Tuesday instead of MacKay. In truth, you didn't vote for MacKay, you just used that as a lead in the strart a totally farcical thread about something irrelevant to the runoff election on June 24th. Lee, I don't think you live in district one. However, your negative opinions about the County administration and your support for Cindy Wilson are well documented on the blog. Kid yourselves that you are voting based on noble Republican principles and homage to the memory of the demigod Ronald Reagan. Raymond MacKay's ties to the Republican Party date back to Gerald Ford's campaign, back when zig zag Bob Waldrep was a yella dog Democrat. Yankee, I cancelled your vote for Bob last Tuesday and I'll cancel your vote for him on June 24th. But this time I'm pis-ed and I'm bringing 10 people with me to vote for Republican Raymond Mackay. And this is my last contribution to this bogus thread. Let's talk about zig zag Bob's lack of integrity. How he voted to undo Fred Tolly's vote on blue laws and created a chaotic mess that last months. Or how he urged fellow Council members to show civility and decorum, then called two county employees "tweedle dee and tweedle dum". How he voted against E911 communications system, then lied and said he was for it. And who could forget the infamous raid on the courthouse with Cindy Wilson and the insensitive remarks toward Germans. Bob can run but he cannot hide from his record on the past 18 months.

"Operation Chaos" was addressed earlier in this thread your highness. It is difficult to navigate on this new site. It is easy to miss a post that is "hidden". I will explain, because I know all about "operation Chaos", because I am a ditto head.
Operation chaos was contrived after Mr. MacKay alledgedly voted in the democratic presidential primary. It was contrived after he filed as a republican for the county council seat. It started in the middle of April, about 30 days past Mr. MacKay's filing. So, if he says it was operation Chaos that made him do it, it would be another perceived lie.
So to answer your question, it was much later than our primary.

You are correct. I should have read your post before I responded to the queen.
I voted for MacKay in the first go around, but if this accusation rings true, I will be switching my vote to Waldrep. I just hope there is proof or Mr. MacKay deny's or confirms. The ball is in his court.

I know I said I wasn't going to post anymore, but dagumit Raymond ( i mean john cheese), Yankeefan and Lee are right.
If this is true, then Raymond MacKay should be run out of the republican party on a rail. As a matter of fact, he should be run out of the democratic party as well. I can't vote for him, I vote and live in district 4. My guy won last week 61-39. I hope the republicans come out and vote big for a real republican. I hope they come out and vote for Waldrep.
Peace out!

Sorry, John Cleese, you may cancel my vote this time, but you didn't last time. I truly voted for MacKay.
I don't know lee, but he is right.
I am just asking for straight up proof of this vote. If he didn't vote for a democrat a couple of weeks before signing on as a republican, then I will continue my support of Mr. MacKay, if he did I am switching. That's all I am saying. It's pretty simple to me. If he declared himself a democrat this January, how can we trust him next January?

You can get the sign in sheets from the primaries to see which primary someone voted in.

Operation Choas started in May, the SC presidential primary was on January 20th. MacKay voted as a Democrat then, which is what he was until filing to run in district 1

You should talk to George Ducworth if you want to know what MacKay is really like. You obviously don't know MacKay or you wouldn't be saying what you are saying.

You need to talk to some of the police officers who were working with the Anderson Police Department when MacKay was a city judge then if you want to know The Real Raymond MacKay. MacKay didn't last long there. Talk to George Ducworth too. I heard that your hubby has a job waiting for him at the Economic Development Department. Most of the people who support MacKay rely on Preston for some sort of goodie.

OK voiceofreason . . .
Let's be reasonable, shall we?
Gerald Ford . . . hello. Working and supporting the Republican Party after Watergate is a testament to someone who believe in party ideals. MacKay has remained lock-step a Republican since the mid 1970s.
Bob Waldrep has changed parties several times in his political career, most recently being 1992, when he changed over from a Democrat to a Republican. Corner Bob. Ask him WHY HE KEEPS CHANGING PARTIES? If he's really honest and frank with you, you'll learn that he's always wanted to be a judge. Neither party has seen fit to get Bob appointed to a judgeship.
Again, as I have said before, you have to admire someone for chasing down a dream and striving for a goal. Now, the issue I have is what does Bob Waldrep really stand for? Is it going to change next week?
(hum to the tune of What would you do for a Klondike Bar) . . .
What Would Bob Waldrep Do . . . for a Judgeship?
As for all of this discussion about Limbaugh/Chaos, if you dig around (remember, Google and Google Cache are your friends) some of the online Republican stomping grounds, you'll find where "Chaos" was talked about LOOONG before it had a name or before Limbaugh branded it.
